Hi John
White balance is a challenge for interior architecture. When incandescent is 3000K and daylight is 5200K you can split the difference or go with the dominant light in the room. Another option is to shoot RAW and convert to two sets of Tiff's with each set consisting of the respective white balance. Then process each and follow up with blending in PS using a mask.
For another option check out my upcoming book on HDR photography (June 08'). I describe a new technique that I call "Flash Merging." The technique results in improved color accuracy and solves the white balance problem.
Thanks,
Ferrell McCollough

Subject: [HDR-photo] Multiple white balances in HDR imagery
Dear HDR group,
I use HDR techniques for capturing real estate imagery. One particular challenge that I run into is adjusting for multiple white balances. For example, lets say I am photographing a room that has several exterior windows. Using ExpoDisc I create a WB preset based on the incandescent lighting in the room and then capture my series of images. When assembling the final image using Photomatix Pro, I find that the cooler daylight that floods the room through the windows has a blue color cast, not only in the windows, but also in highlights /reflections within the room that are caused by the daylight. I wonder if members of the group have suggestions to help me to balance the two distinct white balances. Thanks. John
