[HDR-photo] Open exr files

Thanks Dieter,

It does answer my question partly. A HDR image saved in any format would
need to be tonemapped to be useable, what I'm trying to understand is why
use EXR...what benefits are there for using it? How would one use it in
their workflow and for what reason?

There is plently of info out there on EXR files...but none that I can find
about "EXR and HDR", does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this, is it
worthwhile spending some time developing or pioneering this do you think?
