You may well be correct in this; I use few dcraw based applications. 
Some statements I've seen indicate very similar (if not exactly the 
same) results between certain dcraw based applications. Regardless, it 
simply reinforces the main point to the original poster that different 
applications that process a RAW file can be expected to produce 
different results. :)
