Hey Wayne,

I agree with Damon about the ISO. I think it's the single biggest
factor. From my experience, it seems that the by merging the photos,
the noise is almost compounded.

Since photos for HDR are almost always going to be shot on a tripod,
go ahead and crank the ISO down as low as you can and compensate with
a longer exposure. You'll still get noise in shadows and it will be
widely camera dependent, but see if that helps solve the problem.
