[HDR-photo] RE: HDR forum

As stated on the list info page: "The HDR-photo list is for discussing
techniques and technologies related to High Dynamic Range photography". The
list has a focus that is more on the "technical" aspects of HDR photography,
intended for people who like to better understand the concepts behind High
Dynamic Range imaging and explore its applications to photography. For the
purpose of quality discussions around those topics, I believe that a mailing
list is a more appropriate format than a forum.

But this certainly does not mean that forums on HDR photography would not be a
good idea. I personally welcome such forums, as I don't see it as "splitting"
but rather further enrich the information made available to people interested
in the subject. There is enough interest in HDR photography to justify many
forums -and other mailing lists too- on the topic, especially forums that are
more intended for helping newbies and understand the basics (the discussions
on this list may look intimidating for many photographers not yet familiar
with the concepts of HDR...).

To answer John's question, yes old stuff is saved and easier to access than
old stuff in a forum. The archives are here
http://www.hdr-photography.com/pipermail/hdr-photo

The archives are not searchable yet, but this will be added later on.

I agree that the ability to attach pictures is an advantage with forums. I
will discuss with the technical administrator of the list if something can be
done to upload images to the server and show them in a convenient way.
